The Carolina Hurricanes have just locked up Seth Jarvis to an eight-year deal, at an average of $7.9 million per season. He recorded 33 goals and 67 points last season, numbers that are extremely comparable to Detroit Red Wings' Lucas Raymond, who remains unsigned with numbers of 31 goals and 71 points.
According to TSN, Seth Jarvis will receive about $30 million in signing bonuses as part of the deal.
Both Seth Jarvis and Lucas Raymond are 22 years old. Jarvis has scored 64 goals in 234 NHL games and Raymond has 71 in 238.
This signing comes with some uncertainty surrounding what the Red Wings are doing with Lucas Raymond, as there hasn't been much indication that a deal is close.
We've seen offer sheets over the last few weeks being sent to the Edmonton Oilers for Dylan Holloway and Philip Broberg. Could Lucas Raymond be the next target of one? The longer this contract stalemate drags out, the higher the chances of an offer sheet are.
