McDavid failed to score a point on Sunday night for the first time since the playoffs started.
With 17 points in eight games, he's still averaging just over two points per game, showing that the Canucks were all over him during the game.
Despite all the talent in the Oilers' roster, keeping McDavid out of the scoreboard was enough for Vancouver to get away with the win, taking the series' lead 2-1 as they prepare for their second straight game in Edmonton.
After the final whistle, McDavid was involved in a major incident that ended with two Canucks defensemen coming together to send him on the floor.
It started with McDavid landing a slash on defenseman Carson Soucy. shortly after, the defenseman retaliated, but so did his teammate Nikita Zadorov. From behind, he came in to crosscheck him, and right after the hit, when McDavid was leaning forward from the impact of Zadorov's hit, got hit right in the face by Soucy.
Here's how it happened:
It'll be interesting to see how the Oilers' players will try to get back at them in game 4, set to go down on Tuesday night.
Do you think the NHL's Department of Player Safety should take action against Carson Soucy for his crosscheck on Connor McDavid?
EDIT: Soucy will have a hearing for this play.
