The Edmonton Oilers took the ice tonight against the Columbus Blue Jackets and were looking to find their groove. Unfortunately, things did not go their way as superstar forward Connor McDavid went down with a lower-body injury in the first period after a hit from Blue Jackets defenseman Ivan Provorov.
Connor McDavid would end up being ruled out of the game after heading to the locker room with trainers. The rest of the night would not go well for the Edmonton Oilers as they would get blown out by the Columbus Blue Jackets with a pair of goals from Sean Monahan being a big reason why.

The Edmonton Oilers themselves made an official update from head coach Kris Knoblauch. He confirmed that Connor McDavid will return to Edmonton to be further evaluated.
The Oilers clearly showed tonight that they cannot survive without Connor McDavid in the lineup so early reports of a less severe injury is a huge sigh of relief. Even if Connor McDavid does return soon the Edmonton Oilers still have plenty of things to fix within their game to get back to being true Stanley Cup contenders.
