Since arriving in Montreal, Patrik Laine has become a fan favorite in the city, not only for his play on the ice but for his personality away from it, making him one of the best pickups this team has had in quite some time.
Now, he's shown exactly why he's so beloved once more, as TSN's Chris Johnston has revealed the incredible gesture from Laine towards a U15 team from his home country of Finland.
According to Johnston, the Tappara Finland U15 AAA team recently won the Wayne Gretzky International tournament, and as a result, they'll be going to tonight's matchup between the Toronto Maple Leafs and New York Islanders.
Despite not being involved in the game, it's been revealed that Laine has covered the tickets for the team from his hometown in an incredible gesture that shows just what type of person Laine is.
This is something that Laine definitely didn't have to do, but the opportunity to help out a young team from Finland was too good to pass up, and with Laine earning $8.7 million a year over the past four years, it's safe to say that he can afford something like this.
The Finnish forward has come under scrutiny for his recent comments about his former team, but anyone who has ever been a fan of him knows just how genuine and down-to-earth Laine is, and this is just another great example of the type of humble person that he is, and that's making him a major star in hockey-mad Montreal.
