Preds goalie Askarov no longer interested in playing for team
Following the long-term signing of goalie Juuse Saros, goalie prospect Yaroslav Askarov immediately began to question his future with the team, and now wants out.
Askarov is seen as one of the top goalie prospects in the game, and many thought he was going to be the future of the Predators. Now that they have locked up #1 goalie Juuse Saros for nearly a decade, Askarov and his agent feel that
he no longer has any potential to flourish with the team.
Yaroslav Askarov's agent Dan Milstein recently spoke to a Russian news outlet about his future 👇
«Askarov has the potential & should become an elite goaltender in the NHL. Recently we have been working together with the club under different scenarios. Yaroslav has proven himself that he's an NHL player»
Askarov only has 3 NHL games of experience under his belt, so why would the Predators have chosen him over a fully experienced and talented Saros? Unfortunately, due to these circustances, Askarov has no way of demonstrating his potential with the Preds organization, therefore a trade to a different team is his only option.
Askarov's agent Dan Milstein has stated that the time has come for Nashville and Askarov to move on.
It seems inevitable that Yaroslav Askarov will be traded by #Preds. How long might it take, and why Barry Trotz can show patience and eventually get his high asking price.
Milstein is an agent who does everything he can for his clients and many times gets what he wants. It would seem the likely scenario now is that Askarov will be donning a new jersey at some point during the 2024-25 season.
