The Columbus Blue Jackets and Detroit Red Wings are facing off tonight at Ohio Stadium at Ohio State University.
It is a huge game for both clubs as they are fighting for their spot in the playoffs as we head into the final stretch of the regular season.
The two teams are currently tied with 66 points each through 59 games played.
The Blue Jackets have the tie breaker thanks to a better goal differential, but the teams head-to-head record could also become a factor, making tonight's game even more important.
During the game, ESPN reporter Marty Smith, known for covering NASCAR, was working the game when he did a segment from the crowd.
At the end of that segment, he asked the crowd if they would help him surf, so they lifted him above their heads.
These were not just ordinary fans though, it was actually the Ohio State University football team, which happens to be the number one ranked program in the country.
After a few seconds though, Marty fell head first into the stands after the team dropped him, prompting many to call for the NHL concussion spotter to check on him.
The Buckeyes might be a force to be reckoned with on the field, but apparently, don't take them to a music festival with you!
Through two periods, the Blue Jackets hold a 3-1 lead over Detroit thanks to two powerplay markers late in the second period.
The Blue Jackets already defeated Detroit on Thursday by a final score of 5-2, so if they hold onto this one, they will clinch the season series, which could be the difference between making the playoffs or not based on how tight the standings are this year.
As such, this will be one of the most exciting playoff races to watch as the 2024-25 season winds down, so be sure not to miss it.
