At times this season, the Montreal Canadiens have looked like a genuinely good hockey club with aspirations of making the playoffs.
While the team sits in 7th place in the Atlantic Division, they do hold a record over .500 with 61 points through 59 games.
Technically, they are just 5 points out of a playoff spot, but there are too many teams ahead of them to realistically pass.
Still though, it has been a step in the right direction for the organization this season, and one that has been full of many bright spots.
One of those bright spots is rookie forward Emil Heineman, who has played very well in a depth role with the team.
The 23-year-old has 10 goals and 17 points in 44 games while averaging just 11 minutes of ice time per game.
Unfortunately though, he did suffer a setback earlier this year when he was hit by a car in Salt Lake City.
Heineman missed a little over a month of action, returning to the lineup with the team after the Four Nations break.
He has zero points in three games since returning to the lineup.
This morning, someone on TSN made a disrespectful joke about the rookie, referencing the fact that he was hit by a car earlier this season.
Luckily, Heineman was not more seriously injured in the accident, as it could have been very serious.
If that was the case, surely no one would be making jokes like this, so why do they need to now?
Heineman will look for his first point since returning to the lineup tonight when the team takes on the Buffalo Sabres at 7PM EST.
