Earlier this season, Jake Allen reportedly denied a trade to the New Jersey Devils,but would ultimately be dealt to the Devils right at the trade deadline. It appeared as though the veteran was reluctant to move on from the Canadiens, but ultimately, a deal was struck that sent him to New Jersey.
Now, the veteran goaltender is 4-2 with his new team, and while their playoff hopes are growing dimmer by the week, Allen appears to be enjoying time in net with his new team. The veteran was asked about the move from Montreal recently, and this is what he had to say;
Unsurprisingly, the 33-year old had nothing but great things to say about the Canadiens and his time there, even giving them this major compliment;
With Sam Montembeault and Cayden Primeau taking over in Montreal, it was just time for both parties to move on, and it's clearly done great things for his career, as he's improved across the board since the move, improving an .892 save percentage to .925, while taking his 3.65 GAA down to 2.51.
This may turn out to be an example of a trade that works for both teams, and ultimately Allen knew that this was the best move for his career as he looks to make a Stanley Cup push before it's too late With the Canadiens still a few years away from competing, the veteran has been nothing but positive towards his former team, but it was just time to part ways, and it appears to be working for him.
