In the NHL, an official rule says that teams must make their members available for the media before games. Usually, all teams comply with that rule and talk with reporters a few hours before they jump on the ice for a game.
However, yesterday, the New York Islanders refused to meet with the press, which could lead to official consequences for everyone involved.

Not a lot of details have been revealed as to why the organization intentionally broke the NHL rule, but it's safe to say that the Isles have been in a rough patch recently.
Last night, they lost 6-3 to the Florida Panthers, after blowing a 3-0 lead.
Earlier this week, they announced a long-term injury to Anthony Duclair, Pierre Engvall's call-up from the AHL, and Matt Martin's one-year contract signature.
Patrick Roy himself seemed to question Lou Lamoriello's decision to call up Engvall, and even mentioned it in his post-game press conference:

This could highlight some potential tension between Lamoriello and his new coach. With the way the Islanders have been performing this season so far, it wouldn't be surprising to know that Lamoriello's renowned old-school approach could be bringing up issues with his staff once again.
It'll be interesting to see if the Islanders face consequences for skipping the media availability. Meanwhile, they could try earning some points with their fans by winning.
