This off-season, the Toronto Maple Leafs made some huge moves, and with increased depth, they've been in amongst trade speculation through the first three weeks of the 2024/25 season. Already, there have been upwards of 20 scouts at Maple Leafs games early in the year, and now, one more General Manager has joined the scouting.
According to David Pagnotta, Doug Armstrong of the St. Louis Blues was in attendance for the Maple Leafs latest game, just days after his squad blew Toronto out of the water 5-1.
It's unclear exactly who these scouts are looking at, whether it's a veteran name or one of the Maple Leafs young, up-and-coming players, but with the Leafs losing four of their past five games, it's safe to say that they may very be open to a change. The most likely names to be talked about for Toronto are Timothy Liljegren and David Kampf, both of whom have been healthy scratches at times this season, leading to potential trade interest.
Beyond that, Toronto also has the likes of Nick Robertson and Calle Jarnkrok potentially available, and while their needs may change as the season rolls on and they find their groove, as of right now, they remain a team in demand as opposing GMs know they want to go all in this season.
With Jim Nill and Steve Staios both recently in attendance at Maple Leafs' games, there's plenty of interest in the talented team, and while no blockbuster trades are expected anytime soon if they continue to struggle, don't rule out a massive change for Brad Treliving and Craig Berube.
