As if things couldn't get worse for the New York Rangers, there is now controversy surrounding the team after they fired an employee for a shocking reason.

Over the past few weeks, things have been completely falling apart in New York, culminating in the shocking trade of 23-year old forward Kaapo Kakko, who was sent to Seattle on Wednesday.

There have also been reports that the team is looking to remove GM Chris Drury after a recent team meeting, meaning that there is way more drama in New York than anyone expected this season.

Now, it's getting worse as a report of a staffer being fired for simply having dinner with a player has been revealed by USA Today's Vince Mercogliano, who reported this memo was sent out to the organization after the move.

«In the aftermath of a PR person being fired for having dinner with a player following a media event before the new season, a letter signed by Drury, as well as Knicks president Leon Rose and MSG COO Jamaal Lesane, was distributed to all team employees issuing «a reminder regarding the expectations of behavior when interacting with the players or coaches of any of our Teams.»

The report goes on to become even more surprising, as staffers were informed that they were not able to travel with the team or even stay at the same hotel as them, with the firing coming as a shock to the organization.

Staffers were told that «absent written approval from an Executive Vice President ('EVP') or above,» they were prohibited from staying at the same hotel as any of the teams under the MSG umbrella, including the minor-league Hartford Wolf Pack and Westchester Knicks, traveling on team flights or buses, or attending team social gatherings or meals, according to the memo.«

Things in New York are simply falling apart with the Rangers struggling, and while this took place before the season began, it's just another example of the questionable decisions this organization continues to make.
