Shocking reason behind Jacob Trouba's trade issues revealed
The New York Rangers appointed him captain just last year, but now they're looking to trade Jacob Trouba. However, it may not happen for a surprising reason.
Sports are a tough business, and it's at this time of year that we figure that out time after time, and now Jacob Trouba has figured that out in the worst way possible. Just over 12 months after being named captain, the New York Rangers began engaging in trade talks that would send the tough, gritty blue liner to the Detroit Red Wings.
The Rangers are reportedly attempting to trade Jacob Trouba to the Red Wings, but hurdles remain
Now, things have hit a speed bump, as it has been revealed that Trouba has blocked any type of trade to Detroit, citing his wife's education in New York.
When Trouba signed this current seven-year, $56M contract.. his five-year no-movement clause was designed to expire in conjunction with his wife Kelly Tyson-Trouba's completion of her three-year residency ...Her residency was deferred for a year. It now ends July 1st 2025
It's been revealed that Trouba made it clear to the organization that her residency was a major reason behind the move, so it stands to reason that he wants to remain a Ranger while she continues her career. There are still months to go before the 2024/25 season, so there's a big chance a trade ends up getting done, but for now, it's very understandable why the veteran doesn't want to move.
