Ottawa Senators owner Michael Andlauer torched the New York Rangers on Friday, calling them out for "soft tampering" involving his team's captain Brady Tkachuk.
The New York Rangers wasted little time in firing right back to these accusations that were made by the Ottawa Senators.
In an interview with TSN's Pierre LeBrun, Michael Andlauer put to bed rumors born from Larry Brooks of the 'New York Post', who'd written the 25-year-old winger was the top target of the Rangers.
Andlauer made it clear that the Senators haven't discussed trading Brady Tkachuk to any NHL team, a player who has been one of their best this season with 13 goals and 16 assists in 27 games.
The Rangers are mired in an early season slump and have already made big moves, sending team captain and defenseman Jacob Trouba to the Anaheim Ducks in a deal that was more about moving out the hefty Jacob Trouba contract than anything else, considering the somewhat underwhelming return that came back.
Tampering is an incredibly sensitive topic in the league that very much appeared to be in focus this week in players putting ink on new deals minutes after the free agency window opened in July.
The league only recently sent out a memo reminding clubs of the tampering penalties: heavy fines and loss of draft picks.
Charges by Andlauer make the issue more likely to be on the front burner when the NHL Board of Governors meets on Monday and Tuesday.
