Philadelphia Flyers are on the brink of losing yet another promising prospect
The Philadelphia Flyers are on the brink of losing yet another promising prospect. Following the Cutter Gauthier incident earlier this year, questions arise about the Flyers' ability to make their young players feel comfortable.
This time, the focus is on goaltender Alexei Kolosov, picked by the Flyers in the 3rd round (78th overall) of the 2021 NHL Entry Draft. Reports suggest that Kolosov is leaning towards staying with his former team, Minsk Dynamo of the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL).
Flyers facing another prospect loss
Although not official, Belarus Hockey reports that Kolosov has been training with Minsk Dynamo this summer. He has also allegedly asked the KHL team for help in terminating his NHL contract with the Flyers.
NBCS Philly's Jordan Hall mentioned that Kolosov was feeling homesick but noted that the Flyers are hopeful he'll return for training camp. However, this remains uncertain.
Losing a second prospect in a short time raises significant concerns for the Flyers, especially if Kolosov decides to stay in Belarus. The situation mirrors that of former Carolina Hurricanes forward Evgeny Kuznetsov, who terminated his NHL contract to return to the KHL. The Flyers now face the potential of Kolosov taking a similar path.
