Recently, the Philadelphia Flyers pulled the trigger on a trade that sent Morgan Frost and Joel Farabee to Calgary, and in exchange they landed Andrei Kuzmenko, Jakob Pelletier and most importantly of all, more salary cap space.
While the team may see Pelletier as an intriguing bottom-six forward of the future, Kuzmenko is a free agent in the summer, and given his lack of production for his contract, it's more likely than not that they won't bringing him back.
Now, reports from insider Nick Kypreos have suggested that the team are going to try and push to move the 29-year old ahead of the trade deadline, with a contender potentially looking to take on the short term cap hit for a chance on a genuine talent.
After an incredible rookie campaign with Vancouver, Kuzmenko just hasn't been able to rekindle that form, with a combined 4 goals and 16 points in 38 games played between Calgary and Philadelphia this season, alongside a -8 differential.
Given his struggles over the past 18 months, there have also been suggestions that Kuzmenko could head back to the KHL this off-season, as he's likely to get a much bigger deal over there than he will here, despite having the clear talent to compete at the NHL level.
If Philadelphia do make him available, it's unclear exactly which contending teams would be interested in the 29-year old, but if the Flyers can get anything at all of value for Kuzmenko, it's something they'll need to pull the trigger on.
