Erik Karlsson Adress Trade Rumors to Ottawa Senators
Erik Karlsson is coming to the end of his debut season with the Pittsburgh Penguins, and it's safe to say things haven't gone quite as planned. The team is on track to miss the playoffs, and Karlsson's performance hasn't lived up to some expectations.
At the deadline, we saw the Penguins position themselves as sellers and major rumors involving Erik Karlsson emerged. He recently discussed those rumors in an interview.
Erik Karlsson Talks to The Media About The Trade Rumors Surrounding Him
Even a week after the trade deadline passed, trade rumors are still going around, and it's been reported that Erik Karlsson could be back with the Senators when the trade window opens again.
Karlsson recently had the chance to speak about these trade rumors directly.
"That's Canada for you. I played there for a long time, so I kind of know how that game works. They have a lot of airtime to fill, so there's always something being discussed. But in reality, there's not much to talk about. They love spinning these hypothetical scenarios."
Good point.
Many trade rumors start from media, and we can officially say that Karlsson wasn't involved in trade discussions.
Unless there's a sudden shift in Dubas' mindset, Karlsson should remain in Pittsburgh for the rest of his contract, which ends in 2027.
