While it was exceedingly obvious, especially given the coverage of the event, Mike Grier has now officially leaked the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 NHL Draft.
The 2024 NHL Draft in the Vegas Sphere is just days away, and while the first round is expected to be incredibly unpredictable, one thing we know is for certain; Boston University's Macklin Celebrini will be the No. 1 overall pick. Now, in a recent interview, GM Mike Grier officially leaked the information that we all knew to be true, revealing that he's already had meetings with the young superstar.
Grier says he'll meet with Celebrini and family and representation after Draft to decide if Macklin will come outthen Mike pauses, «Did I say Macklin?»
The Draft isn't until next week
The Sharks also hold Pittsburgh's first round pick, coming in at No. 14, and with a young, emerging core already, these two picks could accelerate their current rebuild in a big way.
With Grier at the helm, the Sharks have some very positive pieces moving forward, with a core led by Will Smith, Quentin Musty, David Edstrom and others, meaning the 2024 NHL Draft could bring more elite pieces. In Celebrini, the Sharks are getting a star not quite at the level of Connor Bedard, but a player that's expected to excel at the NHL level, and with this confirmation, Sharks fans should continue to be optimistic about the future.
