The end may be near between the Leafs and Calle Jarnkrok as a trade seems to be in the cards this offseason.

Brad Treliving and the Toronto Maple Leafs brass will be in for a busy off-season as they look to get rid of many salaries in order to fix the holes in the team, such as fixing up their blueline where they are lacking a true right handed defenseman to fill out their top four. In order to do so, forward Calle Jarnkrok may be the one out of the equation for the Toronto Maple Leafs this summer.
Rumblings seem to support that the Leafs are willing to use multiple ELC and league minimum deals to fill out their forward group so they can finally fix the defensive issues.

At least one conversation has happened with an Atlantic rival about Calle Jarnkrok.

Jarnkrok, 32, had 10 goals, 11 assists & 21 points in 52 games for the Toronto Maple Leafs this past season, going pointless in the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Jarnkrok has a modified trade clause.
Defenseman like Nikita Zadorov, Brandon Montour can be ones of interest for the Maple Leafs.
There's a belief the Leafs could be after two of the «big defensemen» hitting the market this summer.

Some of those names include Zadorov, Pesce, Walker, Tanev and Montour. Given the asking price of most of these players, it will be interesting to see who they get, but it's expected they will make a push for at least one, if not two, defensemen.
