Seattle Kraken officially hires Jessica Campbell as full-time NHL coach
The Seattle Kraken officially hired Jessica Campbell as coach, the first woman to get a full-time coaching position in NHL history.
Another page of history was written by the Seattle Kraken earlier today. Indeed, they've promoted Jessica Campbell from her AHL coaching position with the Coachella Valley Firebirds to a full-time assistant-coach gig in Seattle.
"BREAKING: The Seattle Kraken have hired Jessica Campbell as an assistant coach which makes her the first woman in NHL history to be behind the bench. #SeaKraken"
After serving as the Kraken's assistant-coach in a 2022 pre-season game and spending two years in the AHL alongside current Kraken head coach Dan Bylsma, the organization finally decided to give her a chance to pave the way for other women in the NHL.
Campbell played an important role in the Firebirds' back-to-back run to the Calder Cup Finals in the past two seasons. The organization hopes that she can have the same impact in the NHL.
Details will follow.
