NHL insider reveals potential landing spot for Steven Stamkos
Tampa Bay Lightning forward Steven Stamkos has just wrapped up his 16th season in the city of Tampa since being selected first overall in the 2008 NHL draft. The captain is set to become a pending unrestriced free agent at the end of the 2023-24 campaign, with no extension yet, an insider has revealed a possible landing spot for number 91.
According to insiders Chris Johnston of TSN and Joe Smith of The Athletic in a recent article they have mentioned 3 potential landing spots for the 34 year old star; take a look.
Chris Johnston and Joe Smith in a recent article at The Athletic listed the Florida Panthers, Anaheim Ducks, and Nashville Predators as teams who could pursue superstar forward Steven Stamkos if he hits the open market this offseason.
Although I find the sources credible, I highly doubt Steven Stamkos signs with the Lightning's rivals, the Florida Panthers, especially given the fact they have a handful of free agents to sign such as Anton Lundell, Sam Reinhart and Brendan Montour.
The Predators seem like a realistic fit, a team that is still contending and adding Steven Stamkos will most definitely add longevity to those playoff hopes.
