The Toronto Maple Leafs are looking for major upgrades on their blue line and in net ahead of the 2024 NHL trade deadline, and now, Elliotte Friedman has given an insight into their plans.

Will Toronto part with their 2024 first-round draft pick?

Given the money that Toronto have tied up in their top five stars, it makes sense that according to reports, GM Brad Treliving would love to hold onto their 2024 first-round draft pick.

With major needs however, the question has arisen as to what the teams plans are ahead of the trade deadline, and now, Friedman has revealed what it would take for the team to part with that asset.

32 Thoughts Podcast, on Toronto: They are willing to trade their 2024 1st but hoping to package with something instead of just a 1st for a rental.

Can Toronto find a blockbuster deal to part with their pick?

This doesn't mean Toronto won't move that pick however, it just means Treliving won't part with it for a simple rental, and if they can find a deal that lands them several pieces in return, the pick will be in play.

Given Toronto's link to Calgary over the past few months, it makes sense that a deal could be centered around Chris Tanev, Noah Hanifin, Jacob Markstrom or other assets, and if they can land more than one piece, Calgary might find themselves with another first-round pick.
