Carolina Hurricanes goaltender Pyotr Kochetkov was pulled last night after letting in a goal from center ice forcing his coach to lose all confidence in him.

Kochetkov Pulled After Girard Scores From Center Ice

Late in the first period of last night's game between the Avalance and the Hurricanes, Avalanche defenseman Sam Girard let one fly from center ice which completely fooled Carolina Hurricanes goaltender Pyotr Kochetkov.

This goal came just seconds after the Avalanche beat Kochetkov for the first time on the evening.

The Hurricanes left Kochetkov in for the final seconds of the first period and after head coach Rod Brind'Amour made the decision to pull Kochetkov in place of goaltender Antti Raanta.

There has been a goalie change ... for Carolina.

Antti Raanta is in net for the Canes to start the second.

#Avs scored on their last two shots of the period.

While many thought that this would be the end to Kochetkov's night, it was not as Raanta did not return for the third period after sustaining an injury.

Antti Raanta will not return to tonight's game due to a lower-body injury.

Kochetkov was much better in the third period not letting up a goal and helping lead the Hurricanes to a 5-2 victory over the Avalanche.
