The Toronto Maple Leafs could finally move on from Nick Robertson, and in doing so they may find a former top-five pick according to this trade proposal.

Despite a career year in 2023/24 for Nick Robertson, he remains unsatisfied with his role in Toronto, and now the young forward has officially requested a trade from the Maple Leafs. It's unclear just how many teams the Leafs have had contact with over a Robertson deal, but now one intriguing trade proposal has emerged that would swap him for a former No. 5 overall pick on the West coast.

Now that #LeafsForever's Nick Robertson has requested a trade, could a swap with 2019 5th overall pick Alex Turcotte be in the cards?

Both need a change of scenery, and LA could utilize Robertson's scoring better. Turcotte could slot in the the Leafs' bottom-six nicely.

Who do you think would win this trade?

Unfortunately for the 23-year old Alex Turcotte, he just hasn't hit his stride in the NHL yet, playing 32 games scattered across the past three years, spending most of his time with the AHL's Ontario Reign. Given that Toronto only have spots open in their bottom-six, it's safe to say that Turcotte would enjoy any role in the NHL while Robertson wants a bigger role, and given the spots open in Los Angeles, this makes a deal very logical for both parties.

The rumours have said for quite some time that Nick Robertson is likely a trade candidate for Toronto, and this deal makes as much sense as any, so look for Toronto to make a deal happen before the 2024/25 season begins.
