The Utah Hockey Club made some big moves on draft day, but now it appears as though their first-round pick Tij Iginla didn't want to land with them.

Heading into the 2024 NHL Draft, most analysts and experts expected Tij Iginla to follow in his father's footsteps and land with the Calgary Flames, who were picking at No. 9 in the first round. Ultimately though, the Kelowna Rockets star ended up in Utah, becoming the team's first-ever NHL Draft pick before they quickly inked him to his ELC.

Now, an intriguing development has occurred with Iginla, as one post on Reddit has revealed that Iginla desperately wanted to be a member of the organization that his father dominated with for years.

The post claims that while in public, a fan approached Iginla and told him that he wanted him to be a Flame, to which Iginla replied "I wanted that too". At this point, it's impossible to tell whether or not this actually happened, and it may simply be a fan having some fun, but it wouldn't be a surprise if that is truly what he wanted.

Still, Tij Iginla has a long career ahead of him, and given how much the fans love his father in Calgary, there's a fantastic chance that one day he ends up with the Flaming C on his chest too.
