The past few months have been full of drama in Vancouver, and now that J.T. Miller has officially been traded, the hope is that things will cool down as this team looks to keep pace in the Western Conference Wild Card race.
However, there are many that believe the team will still eye a trade of Elias Pettersson, who has been underperforming in 2024/25, especially after a career high of 102 points two seasons ago, with 89 last year.
Now, top NHL Insider Elliotte Friedman has unveiled a new report on the situation, revealing that while the team haven't 100% made up their mind on him, there's no plans in the immediate future to trade him, as they are going to see how things play out without Miller.
Reportedly, teams like Columbus, Philadelphia and Buffalo all remain intrigued by a potential Pettersson deal, and if the team can't gain significant ground on the Calgary Flames in the playoff race, they may look to get significant assets in return.
Despite having a 'down year' by many standards, Pettersson has still put up 11 goals and 33 points in 46 games, and perhaps, if things don't improve, it would be better for the team and the player to push for a change of scenery.
Ultimately, there's been many reports on whether or not he or Miller would be moved or whether it would be both, but for now, it makes sense that they'll look to see how things play out in the coming weeks, but before the March 7th trade deadline, we may see another blockbuster involving Vancouver.
