Pierre LeBrun Confirms who the Vancouver Canucks Are Targeting on the Trade Market
In a new report, Pierre LeBrun confirmed who the Vancouver Canucks are targeting on the trade market.
It seems evident that the Vancouver Canucks are poised to make massive moves before the trade deadline. In previous seasons, the team's management showed that it likes to add key players ahead of the playoffs.
For example, last season, the Canucks hit a home run by acquiring Nikita Zadorov and Elias Lindholm.
Both of these additions were made in the months leading to the deadline. If the Canucks were to move again this season, it could be sooner rather than later.
Pierre LeBrun believes that the Canucks will make a move before March, and confirmed that league sources revealed the team is looking to add a top-four defenseman and a winger to the lineup.
He added that the team has struggled to cope with Filip Hronek's injury. In Early December, the Canucks revealed that Hronek would miss eight weeks after undergoing a lower-body procedure
In LeBrun's own words:
"League sources confirm that the Canucks are on the lookout for a top-four defenseman as well as a winger. And in keeping with Rutherford tradition, I would imagine GM Patrik Allvin would want to make a trade sooner rather than later and not wait until the March 7 deadline.
He acquired Elias Lindholm on Jan. 31 last season, very much keeping with the Rutherford-esque style to get ahead of the deadline.
Filip Hronek's injury has been difficult to overcome, so that has fueled the need to trade for a top-four D. Easier said than done, but I don't think Vancouver will wait too long if it can find a fit.."
With the massive rumors surrounding Elias Pettersson, the Canucks will definitely be one of the teams to follow closely in the coming months.
The Canucks will be back on the ice tonight to face the Utah Hockey Club. Rick Tocchet will hope to see his team build on Monday night's great 3-1 win over the Colorado Avalanche.
