This afternoon Vancouver Canucks defenseman Quinn Hughes has set a new franchise record against the Detroit Red Wings.

Quinn Hughes to this point in his career has been arguably the best defenseman in the history of the Vancouver Canucks.

Today he further cemented his place in Vancouver Canucks history as he tallied his 311th assist with the team breaking the all-time record.

The assist to break the record came in the second period on a goal scored by Jake DeBrusk.

With the assist, he passes Alexander Edler who had the previous record with 310 assists in 925 games.

Quinn Hughes has now broken the record in an astonishing 387 games.

Beyond breaking this record Quinn Hughes has been overall one of the best defensemen in the NHL over his career in all areas of the game.

At just 25 years old Quinn Hughes likely still has almost a decade of his career to go to add to his franchise record with the Canucks.

With the help of Quinn Hughes the Canucks were able to take down the Detroit Red Wings in overtime with a hat trick goal from Jake DeBrusk.

Quinn Hughes becomes the first of the three brothers to break a franchise all-time record in their careers.

Despite being drafted lower than both Jack Hughes and Luke Hughes the Canucks captain continues to be the superstar of the family with his brothers following closely behind.

As Quinn Hughes' career continues it will be so fun to watch him continue to thrive and build on his already incredible resume as he continues to charter a path towards a potential Hall of Fame career.
