The Vancouver Canucks have been without J.T. Miller for personal reasons, and now he's made his first statement since returning to the team.
The start of the 2024/25 season in Vancouver has been a solid one, and despite some absences from the team, they've continued to fight hard and remain in the Pacific Division race.
The biggest absence of all was star forward J.T. Miller, who was gone from the team for a few weeks, with the team revealing that he needed a mental reset as the reason for his absence.
Now, the veteran forward is back with the team and will be in their lineup for the next game, and ahead of that matchup with the Florida Panthers, he's made a statement to the media in Vancouver.
"I am playing tonight and I really would appreciate if we just stayed away from the reasons why I wasn't here. You can ask all you want, but I'm not going to dive into the reasons why I wasn't here with the team the last three or four weeks. I'm here, I'm with the team and I'm ready to look forward to what's going to happen in the future, not necessarily what has happened in the past."
During the media availability, Miller was asked how he was doing, to which he deflected to his excitement to play.
"How are you doing?", Miller deflected a bit saying, "Uh.... I'm excited to play."
This may mean that despite his return, Miller isn't yet back to 100% mentally, but with the team sitting at 14-8-5, he believes that he's good enough to go once again for the Canucks.
We may never quite know the reason behind his absence, but after the team hung on and played well without him, they will all now be looking to move on as the team see Thatcher Demko return as well as they push for a Stanley Cup.
