The Vancouver Canucks have been off to a great start this year, but now they'll be without JT Miller for an indefinite amount of time as the team announced a shock move on Tuesday.

The Vancouver Canucks were a dominant team a season ago, winning the Pacific Division and a Stanley Cup Playoff round, with many believing they have the team to take another step forward this season.

However, the new season hasn't been quite as explosive, with plenty of criticism being sent towards JT Miller and Elias Pettersson for slow starts in comparison to last season.

Now, we may know the reason behind Miller's struggles, as the Canucks have now officially announced on social media that Miller will be taking an indefinite leave of absence for personal reasons.

Right now our sole focus is making sure that J.T. knows the entire organization is here to support him. Out of respect for J.T., we will have no further comments at this time.

Through 17 games this year, Miller has produced points, putting up 6 goals and 16 points, but has faced backlash for his lack of a 200ft game that became a staple of his play a season ago when he was one of the NHL's best players.

Whatever has caused this leave may have something to do with that, with the team and the fans throwing their entire support behind the 31-year old star centre.

In his absence, the team will turn to Pettersson as their top centre, with the likes of Teddy Blueger, Aatu Raty and some depth from the AHL likely to figure into replacing Miller.

Like the Canucks, we take the time to send well wishes to Miller and his family, and whatever they are go through, we hope that they can come out the other side stronger.
