Craig Berube appears to be the most sought after head coach currently on the marker. Today, he met with the Winnipeg Jets after interviewing with several other teams including the Maple Leafs and Devils.
NHL insider Frank Serravalli was the first to report that Berube was interviewing with the Jets today. His original post noted that he was in Winnipeg, but it has since been revealed that the interview was done remotely, over zoom. Whether or not that makes a difference remains to be seen.
Berube is clearly a highly sought after coach as this is already the fourth team he has interviewed with this offseason. Among the teams interested in him are the Toronto Maple Leafs, who have reportedly spent a lot of time enticing the Stanley Cup champion coach.
Fellow insider Chris Johnston reported today on SPDN that Craig Berube remains the favorite to become the next head coach of the Leafs, alongside Todd McLellan, who is also in consideration. It sounds like the Leafs believe Berube may be their guy, but they will have to beat offers from other teams like the Jets.
