Rutger McGroarty's bad attitude leads to blockbuster trade falling through
Rutger McGroarty's attitude is causing an issue with the Winnipeg Jets, and it may now be costing him opportunities elsewhere.
This off-season has been a bad one for the Winnipeg Jets, with the team making very few moves to improve the team, but the biggest story has been top prospect Rutger McGroarty. Despite being one of the most talented prospects in recent team history, he is yet to make his NHL debut, and has come under fire for recent attitude issues and perceived entitlement for a spot in the NHL lineup.
All of this has him raised as a red flag for many teams, with many expecting him to officially request a trade from the Jets to seek opportunity elsewhere. Now, it has been revealed that his recent attitude issues have rubbed other teams the wrong way too, even costing the Jets a blockbuster trade that involved McGroarty.
McIntyre said other teams are now hearing the same thing the #NHLJets are re: playing time/assurances. He added there may have been a trade that was close to happening last week but fell apart because the other team didn't like what they were hearing from the McGroarty camp. 2/
That comes from veteran Winnipeg reporter Mike McIntyre, and while the team isn't mentioned, it appears as though McGroarty and his camp are rubbing everyone the wrong way. There's still time for this to change, because it appears the Jets won't cave in and give him a chance in the NHL until he's earned it, but for now, all signs are pointing to his camp potentially ruining his future in the NHL.
