The Montreal Canadiens will clearly be sellers at this year's deadline. With losses of Carey Price and Shea Weber the Montreal Canadiens have found themselves pushed into a rebuild likely much sooner than they'd hoped or expected.

With the holiday roster freeze lifted and teams returning to play the rumour mill is already churning. One of the key names in all trade talks coming out of Montreal are surrounding Ben Chiarot. The 30 year old Chiarot has a modified no trade clause which allows him to block a trade to 10 different teams.
In the past week 3 reported suitors have begun to pull away from the pack.
Earlier this week Flames reporter Salim Valji reported the teams interest in Chiarot and shared that potential assets in an offer for Chiarot could include Dillon Dube, Nikita Zadorov and draft picks of some sort. This deal likely doesn't appeal to the Canadiens unless the pick in question is a first rounder.
Pierre LeBrun also shared this week that the Florida Panthers have considered adding Ben Chiarot to play alongside Radko Gudas in their top 4. A pairing of Chiarot-Gudas would be a very difficult combination for any team to try and compete against in a playoff environment.
A far less credible source has connected the New York Islanders to Chiarot in an attempt to help salvage their season. The source claimed the Islanders were preparing a "hard to beat offer", which for a team sitting last in the Metro division just seems to not make sense at this time.
One thing is for sure the closer the Canadiens get to completing a deal for Chiarot you'll likely see the interested teams climb into double digits.
