We all love fights in hockey, no matter your age the hockey fights get your blood flowing. But there is also its fair share of people that want fighting taken out of the hockey entirely, well this next story those people are definitely going to hate.
There is a new hockey league coming "Sports Combat League" and will be called "Ice Wars" and it "promises to give you hockey fight fans everything they want" except the other part hockey fans like, the hockey part.
This is how its advertised:
"The league, started by infamous former Danbury Trashers owner AJ Galante, will pit minor league enforcers against each other in a rink next month, but there will be no sticks, no pucks and no object other than knocking your opponent old cold."
- Combat Sports League.
"I'm calling it prize fighting on ice because at the end of the day, there is no hockey being played," Galante tells Reuters.
"There are no sticks, there are no pucks, there are no nets. So yes, it's full hockey gear and it will predominantly be current hockey players. But it's prize fighting with a purse on the line."
It's going to be just like this scene from Goon 2!
