When will this madness end in Arizona? It seems the only ones that want hockey in this desert is the NHL and a very small fan base, while Quebec is ready to turn the Coyotes into the Nordiques 2.0. As the Arizona Coyotes are officially set to move from the NHL sized Gila River Arena to their tiny new home at Arizona State University, the official arena capacity has now been revealed.
The original estimate was going to to be just over 5100 seats which is the smallest arena capacity by more than half, but hope remained as the Coyotes' current renovation plans could add some seats to the new rink. However, that won't be the case and the news gets worse as the official amount was unveiled for the Arizona Coyotes.
The Coyotes will play in front of only 4,700 fans, if their games even sell out this season. They firsts released prices for the new arena and they were so high that interest dropped quite a bit by students, so the Coyotes will be blocking off a section at a lower price to help bring in a younger crowd.
