Toronto Maple Leafs star Mitch Marner is already off to a better postseason than last year.
His play was placed under the microscrope and a trade was speculated, even demanded by some fans, after he was held to just 4 points and no goals in 7 games in the Leafs first round exit of the 2021 playoffs against eventual Stanley Cup finalists Montreal Canadiens.
Marner has already tallied 5 points and 2 goals in just 2 games in the 2022 playoffs as the Leafs sit even 1-1 after 2 games in the opening round against the defending Stanley Cup Champions Tampa Bay Lightning.
Although the Leafs dropped game 2 to the Bolts, largely due to undisciplined penalties and an ineffective penalty kill, Marner's grandma was in attendance at the game and thrilled to cheer on her grandson the day before his 25 birthday.
Despite the loss Nanny was thrilled to watch Marner play well, who scored a goal and added an assist in a strong effort.
