BREAKING: Controversial Former Flames Head Coach Returns to Hockey
We just learned some major news concerning a former controversial Flames head coach.
Controversial Ex-Flames Coach Back in Hockey
Bill Peters resigned from the NHL after some serious allegations were made against him.
Akim Aliu accused him of using racial profanities in his junior days back in November 2019, and another player also accused him of hitting players.
Now, four years later, he's attempting a return, as he could resurface in the hockey world with the WHL's Lethbridge Hurricanes.
Per Greg Wyshynski,
"Sounds like ex-Flames coach Bill Peters could resurface as head coach of WHL Lethbridge Hurricanes, as @gdrinnan first reported. Might happen as soon as Wed.
Peters resigned in 2019 after Akim Aliu said the coach directed racial epithets toward him in the minors.
It's been 13 years since the incident happened and four years since Aliu brought Peters' actions to the public's attention.
It's my understanding that Peters only sought an audience with Aliu last week through a third party, apparently in anticipation of this job opportunity."
Peters has been a head coach in the NHL for six seasons, with the Hurricanes and the Flames.
Do you think he'll be back in the NHL?
