After a slow start, the Toronto Maple Leafs have battled this season and are now sitting in 4th overall in the National Hockey League, just 4 points behind the Boston Bruins for 1st.
While they might be one of the top teams right now, they are still always looking for ways to improve, and with that mind set, sparked the announcement they made today.
Today the Toronto Maple Leafs made a change to their front office.
According to Insider Chris Johnston, the Maple Leafs have parted ways with Director of Hockey Strategy and Scouting Eric Joyce.
Hearing that Eric Joyce is no longer with the #leafs. He'd been with the organization since October 2020 and most recently served as the director of hockey strategy and pro scouting.
Eric Joyce was in the last year of his contract with the #leafs. The sides mutually agreed to part ways to give Joyce time to move on.
Eric was in the final year, so instead of looking for a new contract they mutually parted ways. Another person who is in the final year of his contract with the Maple Leafs is General Manager Kyle Dubas. Will the Maple Leafs decide to part ways with Dubas this year if the Maple Leafs don't find some playoff success?
