Emerging reports now confirm that the Ottawa Senators have, at last, found new ownership. The franchise has fallen into the hands of Michael Andlauer.
The drawn-out saga saw several high-profile contenders such as the Ryan Reynolds group and the Neko Sparks group step into the ring, only to withdraw later as the tense climate of the sale escalated.
In a twist of events, Steve Astopolopoulous also bowed out, citing the grueling sale process as the primary reason. This necessitated an expedient wrap-up of the proceedings.
Since the unfortunate passing of Eugene Melnyk, the helm of the team was taken over by his daughters, Anna and Olivia Melnyk. However, their insistence on having prospective buyers foot their tax bill was perceived as both greedy and irresponsible. This has been a significant stumbling block during the sale discussions.
