The trades are starting to happen, we've already seen the New York Rangers make a big play to bring in Vladimir Tarasenko, and the Toronto Maple Leafs make a trade to bring in Ryan O'Reilly, but there is still a lot of big names on the board.

The Vegas Golden Knights are rumoured to be in on some big players like Patrick Kane and Jakob Chychrun, even Timo Meier has been rumoured, but they just completed a trade to free up some space to maybe make a big swing at someone.

The #VGK have traded Shea Weber's contract and a 2023 fifth-round pick to #coyotes in exchange for Dysin Mayo. This frees up #VGK to make a subsequent trade and acquire a player with term. Having Weber at $7.85M for three more seasons in LTIR severely limits roster flexibility. The #coyotes can use Shea Weber's cap hit to help reach the salary cap floor going forward. They actually went well down the road with Montreal last year and nearly acquired Weber's contract then.

Shea Weber is most likely never playing again, but his contract still takes up room on the LTIR. Which in the offseason, does still affect the Vegas Golden Knights. This move which honestly does not give the Coyotes much in return, is a great move by the Golden Knights.
