The Columbus Blue Jackets season is off to a rough start. This is particularly true for Zach Werenski who suffered a gruesome injury earlier tonight.
Werenski Suffers Gruesome Injury On Dirty Hit
Early in the game between the Columbus Blue Jackets and Philadelphia Flyers star defenseman Zach Werenski suffered a nasty injury. The injury happened on a dirty knee-on-knee hit.
Zach Werenski leaves the game following a scary knee-on-knee collision with Garnet Hathaway.
Hathaway was given a 2-minute minor for kneeing on the play. Zach Werenski is skating off and not putting much, if any, weight on his right leg. Took a hit behind the net after playing a puck, looked like it ended up being knee on knee. It's a major penalty on Garnet Hathaway.
Garnet Hathaway was given a 5 minute major penalty for kneeing on the play. This is a really tough break for Werenski who only played 13 games last season due to injury. Hopefully, for him and the Blue Jackets, the injury is not as serious as it looked.
