The Stanley Cup is the hardest trophy in sports to win and if you're a Canadian team it just got even more difficult. More and more NHL players are clearly running out of patience with the Canadian government, theirs restrictions and when you throw in reporters like Jim Matheson and Steve Simmons, then you realize Canadian markets are nowhere near as appealing to players as they once were.

Auston Matthews talked about how he was excited to go on the road because he wanted to play with fans in the stadium and was hoping "road games would feel like home games."

Justin Faulk shared he "wasn't looking forward to going to Canada."

This is becoming more and more common and according to Elliotte Friedman and Jeff Marek it could become a significant issue. On the Jeff Marek Podcast the Friedman shared some worrying information for Canadian fans.

Friedman said, "I had a couple of guys tell me this morning that Justin Faulk tweet about Canada is a bad omen for the trade deadline, very bad omen for the trade deadline

I do know of one player who's pretty prominent who has already said to his team, don't even think about Canada."

If this information is correct this is going to make places like Edmonton, Calgary and Toronto far less desirable for players with trade protection. Especially for teams like Edmonton who are looking to rectify big issues this could create some unique challenges. Not to mention if this continues it could make free agency a much more difficult time for teams to compete with their American counterparts.

This is clearly coming to a boiling point and knowing Canadians this could be the breaking point when you start impacting their favourite teams ability to acquire players.
