Last summer David Krejci returned home to the Czech Republic after playing 15 seasons with the Boston Bruins. Krejci wanted to be closer to home with his family while continuing his pro hockey career. Krejci signed with Czech League's Olomouc HC where he's tallied 17 goals and 33 points in 34 games.

But even with multiple timezones and an ocean between them Krejci has kept tabs on his old team and some of his old friends. While watching his former team though Krejci has noticed something and that thing has bothered him.

I'm an interview with Miroslav Horák, Krejci shared what he'd noticed. Krejci had always longed for an opportunity to play with good friend and top winger David Pastranak. While watching this season Krejci had noticed that more than just Patrice Bergeron has had that opportunity this season.

"Coach Cassidy rarely let the two of us play together,» Krejci said, «It must have been something to split the first line and give Pasta to me. It was a maximum of two games."

«After years, I leave Boston and suddenly it is possible. That surprised me. [Cassidy] always told me that he had no reason to take Pasta off the first line and that it would be as short as possible to dismantle the forces. I had to take it. But now Pasta has five or so many games on the line with Taylor Hall and Erik Haula. Strange.»

«I dare say that whenever we played together, it worked for us and it was useful for the team,» Krejci said, «Sometimes the coach put us on overtime or on four against four, the mutual chemistry was there right away, we scored goals. Now I'm just thinking that he could have taken Pasta out first for me and everything could have looked different."

Krejci has never been one to hold his tongue or sugarcoat things, so these comments don't come as a surprise. It would be interesting to see how the Bruins situation may have played out if Krejci had been given the time next to his friend Pasta.

It's hard to make a case for breaking up the Perfection line, but it's also an interesting revelation given the surprising nature of Krejci's departure.
