Evander Kane has been a big part of the Oilers success, contributing 39 points in 43 games in the regular season, and 15 points in 11 games in the playoffs so far this year.
Traded to the Oilers from San Jose, Kane is an unrestricted free-agent at the end of this season. While never having played a full-season, he is a solid contributor in points and energy on the ice, which has raised speculation Edmonton will try to sign him in the off-season.
Dreger on OverDrive says he can see Holland giving a bit more term to Kane than others may, the sweet spot would be a 3-yr term but DD can see Holland going longer to bring down the AAV, plus Dreger adds Holland may be retired in 5-yrs playing on a golf course, what does he care? NHL Watcher (@NHL_Watcher) May 25, 2022
NHL insider Darren Dreger has even reported Kane may receive a 3-year deal from Oilers GM Ken Holland. At 30 years old and given his injury history this is the sort of deal that could break the franchise, or set them up for consistency for the next few years.
