Following Minnesota's disappointing first round exit of the Stanley Cup Playoffs against the St. Louis Blues there has been trade and signing speculation around multiple Wild players.
Most recently it was Swiss winger
Kevin Fiala who was subject of speculation, as he is soon to be a restricted free agent.
Fiala hinted as much to a potential departure from Minny, posting a thank-you to the city and fans on his instagram account.
GM Bill Guerin has also added to the speculation, during an emotional radio interview regarding the direction of the Minnesota franchise.
When asked about defenseman Matt Dumba Guerin responded:
"If I sound a little pissed off or annoyed, I am. All I hear is Matt Dumba getting dumped on and, you know what, it's not easy doing what he did. Playing in the condition that he did. I like Matt Dumba. I think he's a damn good defenseman. And people want people want to ride him out of town because Kevin Fiala had three good months."
It certainly sounds like both Fiala and the Wild are ready to move on.
Originally drafted by the Nashville Predators and traded to Minnesota in 2018, Fiala is coming off of the best season of his still young career, where he scored 85 points for the Wild this past year, and played all 82 games for the first time in his career.
Prior to the 2021-2022 season Fiala had only ever scored 54 points.
