Most recently it was Swiss winger Kevin Fiala who was subject of speculation, as he is soon to be a restricted free agent.
Fiala hinted as much to a potential departure from Minny, posting a thank-you to the city and fans on his instagram account.
GM Bill Guerin has also added to the speculation, during an emotional radio interview regarding the direction of the Minnesota franchise.
I'm in the same camp... why is it always a Matt Dumba conversation. I am #TeamDumba looking at everything he has done for the @mnwild
organization. Time will tell what they end up doing, but I appreciate & respect that guy a ton.https://t.co/lFtHI2sLgZ Monika Melsha (@mrobin032009) May 21, 2022
When asked about defenseman Matt Dumba Guerin responded:
It certainly sounds like both Fiala and the Wild are ready to move on.
Originally drafted by the Nashville Predators and traded to Minnesota in 2018, Fiala is coming off of the best season of his still young career, where he scored 85 points for the Wild this past year, and played all 82 games for the first time in his career.
Prior to the 2021-2022 season Fiala had only ever scored 54 points.
