Former Canucks Jake Virtanen Officially Charged

Only a few weeks after former teammate Reid Boucher was exposed for sexual assault on a 12-year old girl, today another former Canucks is in the news for all the wrong reasons. Jake Virtanen has officially been charged with sexual assault stemming from a September 2017 incident.
Vancouver Police Department: Jake Virtanen, 25, charged Thursday with sexual assault in relation to incident that occurred in Vancouver Sept. 26, 2017, when Virtanen was playing in the NHL
VPD launched investigation in May 2021, after the now-23-year-old victim went to police. Virtanen not in custody.
These charges stem from a civil lawsuit that was filed against Virtanen last May.
Jake Virtanen is currently playing for Spartak Moscow of the Kontinental Hockey League. After allegations surfaced Virtanen was immediately cut by the Canucks.
