The Four Nations Face Off is quickly approaching, and with Team Canada looking to gel together, they went through a very intense first practice on Monday.
For the first time, four nations will battle it out as the NHL returns to the international stage in the coming two weeks, with Canada, the United States, Sweden and Finland all vying for international supremacy in what will be a highly competitive round-robin style tournament.
There's been questions over Sidney Crosby's availability, but on Monday he confirmed that he's good to go, with Team Canada's captain once again set to lead his country onto the ice after a stellar international career.
«Everything went well. I feel good from that standpoint. There's been a lot of questions. A lot of, 'How are you feeling?' the last five days, so I'm excited just to get into a routine here and get back to normal.»
While many expected him to take it slow under an injury cloud, it doesn't appear that has happened, as linemate Nathan MacKinnon opened up on what was an intense practice on Monday and how those two are gelling with new linemate Mark Stone.
«It's funny how quickly you jell in a day, even. We hung out for seven, eight hours yesterday just around a table, shooting it and having a great time, getting to know each other and today we had a great practice. Guys are super intense, buzzing around."
With arguably the most loaded forward group at the tournament, if things start this intense, this team could be unstoppable at the tournament, even up against three incredibly deep and talented teams.
Ultimately, things appear headed in the right direction for Team Canada, and with practice being so intense with Crosby, MacKinnon and Connor McDavid leading the way, this should be a very fun few weeks for hockey.
