We all know that once we learned that the Buffalo Sabres and their super star center Jack Eichel were in for a messy divorce that plenty of teams would of loved to bring Eichel to their club.
The Vegas Golden Knights were the lucky winners going all in for Eichel. The Sabres received Alex Tuch, Peyton Krebs and a 1st round pick for Eichel.
However Sportsnet hockey Insider Elliotte Friedman revealed today there was another deal in the works for Jack Eichel before the Sabres deal.
Jack Eichel could of became a member of the Anaheim Ducks. But the Anaheim Ducks didn't trust the disk-replacement surgery Eichel wanted. Elliotte Friedman revealed that the Buffalo Sabres asked the Anaheim Ducks for Rookies Trevor Zegras, Jamie Drysdale and 2 first round draft picks.
Elliotte Friedman said:
"With the the uncertainty of Jack Eichel's surgery and that asking price Anaheim wasn't going to do that."
While Jack Eichel is a franchise player and one hell of a talent, this is one ridiculous ask by the Sabres. Zegras alone could turn into a potentially similar if not better player.
