The Montreal Canadiens were in desperate need of a goaltender that would help them return Cayden Primeau to the minors to help his development and salvage his confidence, well it seems like the Canadiens have been able to make that deal.
The Canadiens announced this morning that they've acquired veteran goaltender Mike Hammond from the Minnesota Wild in exchange for Brandon Baddock.
Hammond, who is now 34, this season posted a 6-2-3 record in 11 games for the AHL's Iowa Wild, while posting a 2.44 goals-against average and a .908 save percentage. Hammond is most notably known as "The Hamburgler" who went on an absolute tear in 2015 for the Ottawa Senators when he went 20-1-2 to get the Senators into the playoffs.
Brandon Baddock, is a 26-year old career minor league player who has only played 1 professional game in his entire career and will likely report to the AHL's Iowa Wild.
