When it was announced that the Montreal Canadiens won the 2022 draft lottery and would be picking 1st overall this year, many figured that the Habs would immediately be picking Shane Wright who has been the projected #1 overall for 3 years now.

Recently, there has been a lot of speculation as to if the Habs would actually take Wright, instead picking U.S. born Logan Cooley instead, who it is said it well known by General Manager Kent Hughes.

Both of these players were taken to dinner by the team recently, but one name who is projected to go top 3, and might just be the best offensive player in the draft According to Arpon Basu of The Athletic reported was not taken to dinner by the team and that player is Juraj Slafkovsky.

The Slovakian born top-prospect played last season in the SM-liiga league and also represented Slovakia at the Olympics where he scored 7 goals in 7 games. Being able to produce like that at the age of 17 against mens who the majority were ex-NHLer's and on a stage as big as the Olympics if a huge sign for what this prospect is capable of, yet the Habs did not take the time to spend additional time with the prospect to learn about him.

It is said recently that a comment he made may not be sitting well with the team, but if you ask me, this is exactly the kind of comments you want to be hearing from young up-and-coming stars.

That quote was:

I can see himself on the same line as Suzuki and Caufield

Are the Habs making a mistake here?
