While we have seen two games be played overseas already this year, tonight marks the start of the 2022-23 NHL season in North America and before the puck dropped between the Tampa Bay Lightning and New York Rangers tonight, the National Hockey League had Chris Rooney the referee give a cringeworthy speech.
As the two players were waiting for the puck to drop, the camera zoomed in on Rooney who was prepared looking at the camera:
To our great players and our great fans, welcome to opening night of the 2022/23 NHL season. What better than this? Good luck to all players. Let's have a great season.
What is even worse than the speech is that the players and even fans had no interaction after ... silence.
